Word Mastery in English

Not every learner needs this. Yours might.

People who found this useful

Orla Fetherstonhaugh, Bristol

She had been reading English for years but kept stumbling on the same gaps - words she recognised but could not use. After eight weeks with Kirovona, she started noticing those words in meetings and actually reaching for them herself. It was not dramatic. It was just finally working.

Dmitri Vesely, Leeds

He joined expecting grammar exercises. What he got instead was a structured way to build vocabulary that actually stuck. Three months later he was writing professional emails without second-guessing every sentence. He still checks in occasionally, mostly out of habit.

Priya Nandakumar, Edinburgh

Her goal was to sound less hesitant in presentations. She did not need fluency - she already had that. She needed precision. The live sessions gave her a place to test words before she used them professionally. That part, she said, was worth the time alone.

What the sessions actually do

Contextual depth

Words are taught inside sentences, situations, and registers - not as isolated entries in a list. You learn when a word fits, when it sounds odd, and what its near-synonyms actually signal to a native reader. That distinction is where most courses stop short.

Live correction

Every session includes real-time use - participants write, speak, or respond with new vocabulary while an expert is watching. Errors are addressed immediately, not in a summary email two days later. The feedback loop is short by design.

Spaced recall

Sessions are spaced across the week rather than compressed into one long sitting. Research on retention suggests this matters considerably. The schedule is not convenient by accident - it is built around how memory actually consolidates new language.

What stays with you after the course ends

The most useful thing about building vocabulary deliberately is that it does not stop when the sessions do. Once you have a reliable method for encountering and retaining words, you apply it independently - in reading, in writing, in conversation. The course is a starting point for a habit, not the habit itself.

Participants who complete a full programme typically report that their reading speed increases noticeably, not because they read faster, but because they pause less. Fewer unknown words means fewer interruptions. That compounds over months of ordinary reading.

The other thing that lasts is confidence in register - knowing which word belongs in which situation. That judgement, once developed, becomes automatic. It is the difference between knowing a word and trusting yourself to use it.

When something is not working

Support exists for practical problems - not as a motivational service. If a session does not land, if the pace is wrong, or if the material misses the mark, there are specific routes for addressing that.

6–8

Participants per group

Small enough that a quiet session gets noticed before it becomes a pattern.

48h

Response window

Questions submitted between sessions receive a substantive reply, not an acknowledgement.

1

Mid-course review

A structured check-in halfway through each programme to adjust pace or material if needed.

Session replay access

Every live session is recorded and available for 30 days after broadcast. If a concept did not settle the first time, watching it again at a different pace often helps. This is not a substitute for attending - the live interaction is the point - but it is there when needed.

Written feedback on exercises

Exercises submitted between sessions receive written notes from the session lead, not an automated score. The notes are specific to what was submitted - not generic encouragement. Occasionally blunt, always useful.

Programme transfer

If the current programme turns out to be the wrong fit - wrong level, wrong pace, wrong focus - participants can transfer to a different one before the halfway point. This happens more than you might expect, and it is not treated as a failure on either side.
